WISCONSIN STATE
TELECOMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATION
Wisconsin’s 2021-2022 Legislative Session is nearing an end. Broadband expansion continues to be a priority for lawmakers at all levels of government, including the members of the State Senate, State Assembly and Governor Evers. An historic $129 million in funding was approved in the 2021-2023 Biennial Budget for the Broadband Expansion Grant Program (BEGP). WSTA is actively lobbying and protecting the interests of our members companies on legislation to revise the statutory guidelines for the BEGP. Revisions to the BEGP statutes may still pass this session. Progress toward the implementation of NG911 in Wisconsin is being made with continued funding for the ESInet in the Biennial Budget. However, we are also laying the foundation for statutory changes which guarantee originating provider cost recovery as we transition to the ESInet. With your help, we successfully passed 2019 Wisconsin Act 128 in the 2019-2020 Legislative Session. Your active participation in our lobbying and grassroots effort is critical as we continue our success, expand broadband access in rural areas, and protect the interests of our member companies.
By attending the 2022 WSTA Government Relations Seminar (Wednesday, March 30, 2022), you will hear legislators from the State Senate and State Assembly share their views on the current political environment and priorities for the upcoming session. It will also be an opportunity for you to visit with and provide information to your legislators in their Capitol offices. If you have any questions, please contact Bill Esbeck at the WSTA office.
RATE Member/Non-Member Fee: $105.00 No refunds for cancellations after March 25, 2022. Refunds for cancellations before March 25, 2022 will be subject to a $25 processing fee.
